Public Holiday in October: Another Government Holiday Announced
The festive season is about to begin in October. Let us inform you that in Bihar, there will be a government holiday for Diwali. Along with this, there will also be holidays for the Chhath Puja festival. According to the Bihar government, the official Diwali holiday has been set for October 20. The General Administration Department has also issued an official gazette notification regarding this.
According to the department, earlier a holiday under the NI Act was declared on October 22 (Wednesday). However, this has now been changed, and the official government holiday will be observed on October 20 (Monday). It is to be noted that in 2025, the festival of Diwali (Lakshmi Puja) will be celebrated on Monday, October 20.
Diwali to Be Celebrated on October 20
The Amavasya Tithi (new moon day) will continue till the evening of October 20. However, since the Lakshmi Puja is performed during the Pradosh Kaal (evening time), most people will celebrate Diwali on October 20. Therefore, the main government holiday for Diwali will be on Monday, October 20.
In most states, Diwali holidays last for 3 to 6 days—from Dhanteras on October 18 to Bhai Dooj on October 23.
After Diwali, Chhath Puja is also celebrated in Bihar, which lasts for four days. It will begin with “Nahay Khay” on Saturday, October 25, and the main evening offering (Sandhya Arghya) will be on Monday, October 27, followed by the morning offering (Usha Arghya) on Tuesday, October 28.
