Link Your PAN Card with Aadhaar Card
The Government of India has issued a new rule for its citizens. According to the new rule, if you don’t have a PAN card, you cannot perform financial transactions. Moreover, for people who file Income Tax Returns (ITR), a PAN card is absolutely mandatory.
Recently, the government has made a major announcement stating that if your PAN card is not linked with your Aadhaar card, it will become invalid or inactive.
The Income Tax Department has officially tweeted that linking your PAN with Aadhaar is compulsory. If you have not yet linked your PAN with Aadhaar, your PAN card will soon become invalid.
Government’s New Rule on PAN-Aadhaar Linking
Earlier, linking PAN with Aadhaar was free of cost. However, the government has now imposed a penalty of ₹1,000 for linking. Initially, linking was free till 31 March 2022, but from 1 April 2022, a late fee of ₹500 was introduced, which was later increased to ₹1,000.
How to Link PAN Card with Aadhaar Card
Linking your PAN card with Aadhaar is very simple. Follow the steps given below:
- Visit the official website of the Income Tax Department — https://www.incometax.gov.in
- Click on the “Services” option.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Link Aadhaar”.
- Next, click on “Know About Aadhaar PAN Linking Status”.
- A new page will open where you need to enter your PAN and Aadhaar details.
- After that, click on “View Link Aadhaar Status”.

Finally, click on the “Link Aadhaar” button.
Your PAN card will then be successfully linked with your Aadhaar card.
